The artistic practice of Amundsen engages primarily with music, poetry and video, either as distinct forms, or as combined in the audio visual medium. A common feature of his formal expression is the use of preexisting (‘found’) visual, musical and literary material, which is altered, juxtaposed and re-contextualised, creating new works of art. His works are often seductive, suggestive and oscillate between comedy and tragedy, with a playful seriousness that is both ironic and unironic. The artwork 3 is a mixed media installation consisting of a three-channel synchronised video that is accompanied by; a three-channel soundtrack, an UV-lit corridor with a text on its walls, along with a collection of poetry* that is on display outside the corridor. 3 is an exuberant and open-ended attempt at depicting a certain western secular cosmology, which is assumed to be particularly influenced by popular notions of science, technology and nature. The work explores the relationship between these three themes and how they are informed and influenced by popular culture, consumerism and the Judeo-Christian tradition.

*The poetry collection is made in an edition of nine unique versions and is available for purchase during the exhibition.
